Small Underwater Vehicles
Subzero: a low cost Remotely Operated
Vehicle for underwater inspection
|
|
Small underwater vehicles are used for applications in
offshore engineering, oceanographic research and marine leisure
activities. Steph Merry, Director and principle engineering
consultant of Focus Offshore Ltd, contributed to the development
of the UK’s first Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV)
“Autosub” and has worked with Seaeye Marine, a
leading manufacturer of Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs).
Her speciality is the design of energy-efficient submarines
and she organised the 1st International Submarine Races for
human-powered vehicles in 1989. |
